Aluu everyone! My name is Matan, and I’m behind the “Aluu Greenland” website.

People usually raise their eyebrows and look at me funny when they hear I’m an expert on Greenland, but what can I say? I like action and visiting unique places from a young age –

Greenland is THE place for me, unlike all the “Mainstream” places everyone’s going, like Europe, NYC, or India.

I fell in love with the place, and since then, I’ve been trying to share my love for it with as many people as possible.

Greenland is a fantastic destination – something about its unspoiled beauty captivates you.

Whether hiking through the rugged landscapes or kayaking along the coastlines, there’s always something new to see and explore.

And don’t forget the glaciers – they’re breathtaking!

The story behind my website's name When I started planning my trip to Greenland, it seemed like not many people had been before. But I decided why not - I could be the first one! So, when I reached out in emails to all the hotels on the island, of course, I wrote "Aluu" first - after all, that's what you say for "hello" in Greenland. So when I started building my website, it seemed like a perfect name for my website about everything in Greenland, and so, with a bit of tongue-in-cheek flair, Aluu Greenland was born!

How does my love for Greenland start?

Ever since I was a young child, Greenland has fascinated me.

It all started when I saw it on the map- its huge size and remote location captivated me.

When I was older, I had the opportunity to travel to Iceland, and my love for Greenland grew even more.

I was awestruck by Iceland’s dramatic landscapes, and a few years later, I even visited Svalbard Islands near the North Pole – As you can see, I love the arctic landscape!

But something about Greenland spoke to my soul more than any other place.

Reading more about their history and culture, my love for the country grew more assertive.

The Inuit people are an incredibly fascinating group of people who have adapted to life in one of the harshest environments on Earth.

I admire their strength and resilience and am awed by their ability to thrive in such a challenging environment – I couldn’t wait to meet them in person!

Greenland – A dream come true!

I was determined to make the epic voyage that so few had achieved – traveling around the WHOLE of Greenland!

While it’s not a typical destination, I wanted to be among the few that have seen every corner of this vast land.

Only at age 30 was I finally able to embark on my journey to Greenland:

It was the most challenging trip I ever planned for myself – and I planned all my trips worldwide!

You need to understand that there’s not a lot of information online, and not many people in history visited Greenland the way I wanted, a complete trip from south to north.

And let’s not forget that Greenland is not Iceland, and they don’t want to be Iceland – they want to keep the country quiet and peaceful – but that’s what makes it so authentic, unique, and a one-of-a-kind travel trip!

And since the journey truly can teach us so much, I knew it would be a shame not to share what I had learned with others.

And then I created “Aluu Greenland”!
